Why metal?

Vivid & True-to-Life

Traditional photo processors spray liquid ink dots onto a two-dimensional substrate, usually paper or canvas, resulting in a total loss of depth making the image appear flat. Our unique dye sublimation process achieves a superior transfer of the original image by using heat and pressure to transform inks into a gaseous state that meld them into the coating on the aluminum at different levels.

Designing Tips

  • Select high-resolution (300 DPI at size), vibrant images. The luminosity and color vibrancy of metal prints work best with images that are sharp and rich in color. Avoid low-resolution images as they may appear pixelated when printed. A good quality photo from your phone will work well.
  • Decide between glossy and matte finishes based on where the print will be displayed. Glossy finishes are great for vibrant, high-contrast images but can reflect light and show fingerprints. Matte finishes are better for reducing glare and are ideal for portraits or softer images.
  • Embrace negative space in your design. Metal prints have a sleek and modern look, and sometimes a minimalist approach with ample negative space can make a powerful statement.
  • Be mindful of the colors in your room when choosing a print. Metal prints can act as a focal point in a room, so selecting colors that complement your existing decor can create a harmonious design.
  • Consider the size and orientation of the print in relation to your space. Larger prints can serve as a centerpiece, while smaller prints may be used to create a gallery wall. Think about the wall space and how the print's orientation (portrait or landscape) will fit into it.
  • If planning for multiple prints, consider creating a theme or series. This could be a series of images with a similar color scheme, subject matter, or artistic style. Displayed together, they can tell a story or create a visually cohesive area.

Cleaning & Care Instructions

  • Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently dust the surface of the metal print. Avoid using rough materials or scrubbing aggressively, as this can scratch the surface. Most common non-abrasive household cleaners will work great.
  • Refrain from using harsh chemical cleaners, solvents, or abrasive materials. These can damage the print's coating and vibrant colors. For routine cleaning, a damp cloth with water or any common non-abrasive household cleaner is usually sufficient.
  • For smudges or fingerprints, lightly dampen a microfiber cloth with water or a mild, dilute soap solution. Gently wipe the area in a circular motion, then dry it with a separate clean cloth.
  • To preserve the color integrity of the metal print, avoid hanging or placing it in direct sunlight for extended periods. While metal prints are the longest-lasting photo medium, prolonged exposure to UV rays can lead to fading.
  • Always handle your metal print with care, particularly when moving or transporting it. When storing, protect the print with a soft cloth or padding to prevent scratches and damage. Keep it in a dry, safe place away from potential hazards.

Testimonials

You have probably noticed at some photo trade show or in some photo magazine that metal prints are all the rage. The are lots of companies making metal prints. But I've never seen one that comes close to what you get from Vivid Metal Prints.
